The RZ-40 PMU is a modern multi-processor electronic device. It can fulfill two basic roles:

The recorder, which conveniently makes data available for analysis of the power system in case of emergency and disturbance conditions;
A stand-alone system verifying the operation of protections
A wide range of measuring ranges of voltage and current cards is available, as well as two-state inputs with different voltage ratings. This makes the RZ-40 PMU a flexible device that can be used in many technical areas. The number of analog inputs is limited to 18, while the maximum number of binary inputs is 140. The standard version of the recorder has 16 analog and 36 binary inputs.

RZ-40 unique functions

Continuous recording

Modified firmware of RZ 40 provide better access to the internal recorders data base. Data can be easily moved from RAM to Compact Flash continuously during fault recording at the same time. Since the RAM is no longer limited issue there is a possibility to capture easily tens-of-seconds recording instead of standard 60 sec. Such a long recordings could be achieved even if recordings concern 16 analog inputs, 48 digital with sampling freq 8kHz.

Trends registration

Long term disturbance records will continue to aid in the analysis of those events that spawn over a long period of time. For example, in a power plant, an initiating event that takes many hours or days to trend up to the point where a power system event finally takes place that can be analyzed when captured using the disturbance monitor functionality, thus RZ 40's sampling freq is bit lower. Adjustable time 5ms up to 30 sec between each following samplings, recordings time up to few hours.

Internal binary variables registration

In spite of possibility to register outer binary inputs our events recorder is equipped in additional internal binary input registration (ex. Analog triggers). Using events list make it easy to find the reason, recorder was triggered.

Calculated values registration

Virtual channels are subject to estimation on the basis of analog values as well as default math formulas (ex. Impedance, freq). Availability to analyze protection relays operation become much easier.

Test mode

In comparison to the data gathered during normal operation this mode gives an opportunity to store and save data in separate file. Test mode allowed easily erase
gathered data during trial run.

Registration blocked

The function keeps all the other functions switched-on (ex. current events, input signals) allowed in easy way to stop recording if it is no longer necessary.

Software

The ET-Manager software running on PC, is delivered together with RZ40 and allows user to perform analysis and equipment control:

  • connection with many fault recorders;
  • view, edit and load settings;
  • view of present recorder status, input values as well as estimated values;
  • save and load on disk measured values;
  • quick value display, visualization of the analog inputs ( zoom, trim etc);
  • making virtual channels in function of real input channels;
  • export data into a text file;
  • local and remote connection possible

Advantages

  • Visualization from operational panel;
  • Low power consumption;
  • User-friendly software;
  • Galvanic separation of input circuits;
  • DC constant transparent inputs;
  • Wide measurement range;
  • Direct connection to CT’s Vt’s and contacts;
  • Easy to adjust and set up;
  • Number of trigering criteria;

PMU applications platform.

Together with PMU units, Energotest offers also various applications based on PMU measurements.
All this application are managed by our dedicated software platform ECONTROL- PMU.
