We have been designing electrical and automation systems since 2003, when the design team originating from Energoprojekt-Gliwice was incorporated into the company's organizational structure. In order to better adapt the offer to market needs, design activity was organized in three studios:

Design studio for power supply and energy distribution systems.

The scope of competence of this design studio includes execution of design works in the field of:

  • electric energy supply and distribution systems (electric networks and installations) at the medium and low voltage level;
  • MV/nn. transformer stations;
  • medium and low voltage switchgears;
  • electric power protection automatics systems in MV and LV networks
  • Electricity metering and billing systems;
  • Auxiliary and guaranteed voltage systems for direct and alternating current
  • Auxiliary and guaranteed AC and DC voltage systems
  • DC network supervision systems;
  • lighting and power installations;
  • cable management;
  • equipment disposal;
  • development of assumptions and inter-branch coordination within the scope of their competence;

Design studio for power distribution systems.

The scope of competences of this design studio includes execution of design works in the scope of:

  • construction and modernisation of power evacuation systems from high, medium and low power generating units 
  • The scope of competence of this Laboratory includes the design works in the scope of: construction and modernisation of power evacuation systems from high, medium and low power generating units, within the range of primary and secondary circuits;
  • Excitation and voltage regulation systems for generators;
  • electrical protection control systems for generators, transformers and generator-transformer units
  • Voltage regulation systems for transformers
  • synchronization systems
  • measurement systems
  • systems for recording and analysis of events and disturbances;
  • modernization of control stations and control and signaling panels;
  • SCADA type control and supervision systems;
  • construction and modernization of the electrical part of the power supply system for own needs and general needs of power plants and CHP plants 
  • and thermal-electric power plants, including flue gas desulphurization, coal handling and ash removal systems, etc.
  • cable management;
  • equipment disposal;
  • development of assumptions and inter-industry coordination within the scope of their competence;

Substation design studio.

The scope of competences of this studio includes realization of design works in the scope of:

  • construction and modernisation of 110kV/SN substations both in the area of primary and secondary circuits of the substation;
  • electric power automatic control systems of HV/SV substations, including line bays, transformer bays and bays of coupling switches
  • electric energy measurement and settlement systems;
  • auxiliary circuits of the substation including the auxiliary and guaranteed voltage systems of the substation;
  • telemechanics and communication systems of the substation
  • central signalling and fault signalling systems of the substation including SCADA systems
  • cable management;
  • Equipment disposal;
  • development of assumptions and inter-branch coordination within the scope of its competence;
  • development of the documentation necessary to report the works to the Office;
  • development of documentation required to obtain a building permit, including the development of the construction design and representation of the Investor before the Office;

Depending on the Client's requirements specified in the agreement, conceptual designs, basic designs and detailed designs are prepared in individual studios. In particular cases, resulting from the necessity to report the designed works to the Office or obtain a construction permit, adequate documentation resulting from the requirements of Construction Law is prepared for the given investment task, i.e. Construction Design or technical documentation of works necessary to report to the Office. Independently, calculations and network analyses necessary for proper selection of the designed devices and calculations of protection settings are also performed.

Team of technical advisors.

Within the structure of the Design and Analysis Department, a Team of Technical Advisors has been created. The main purpose of this Team is to support individual laboratories with knowledge and experience in solving difficult technical and organizational issues resulting from current design tasks, as well as training and development of future professional design personnel of Energotest.

This Team's area of expertise also focuses on:

  • development of technical analyses, including network analyses;
  • technical consultancy
  • development of concepts, studies, basic designs for complex design tasks and investment projects
  • verification of projects developed in the Division, at different stages of design
  • development of technical offers
  • author's supervision;
  • maintaining contact with Energotest Clients.

Multi-discipline cooperation.

For design tasks which require participation of designers from other branches, we cooperate with external design offices from architectural-construction, construction, sanitary and installation branch etc. We undertake cooperation with offices and designers having extensive experience in designing of industrial facilities, in particular power engineering facilities. As part of our responsibility for the entire project, commissioned to us by the client, we undertake supervision over its implementation as a whole and carry out multi-industry coordination. We also take care of the final quality and completeness of the project from the point of view of the purpose it is to serve.

Tools used in the design process.

At the moment, the main tool supporting the work of our designers is Eplan Electric P8. Apart from Eplan, we also use WSCAD version 5.4, SeeElektrical and AutoCad software. In addition to the above-mentioned graphical software, the design process and all types of analyses performed in the Control and Analysis Division make use of programs for short-circuit calculations, selection of equipment, protection settings, distribution calculations in the scope of distribution of operating and short-circuit currents, etc.
